Useful to know
Aluminium is often used when you need high strength compared to the weight. The metal is often used as an alternative to steel and is suitable for signage, prototypes, etc. Aluminium does not corrode and can hence be used for outside purposes.
Laser engraving
Unfortunately, it is not possible to laser engrave aluminium.
Laser cutting
Top side – No burn marks, but small soot markings can appear from the laser cutting. These can easily be wiped off.
Edges – Appears sharp and in the same colour as the material.
Bottom side – Small scratches can appear from the foundation from which the plate is laser cut. Soot markings can appear. These can easily be wiped off. The lower edge can be very sharp after the laser cutting and should therefore be rubbed down.
Finishing treatments
Aluminium is soft and can easily be bent by hand. Aluminium can easily be painted after laser cutting.
