Checklist before you order
Use this checklist before you order to ensure the best result.

Design to suit the material
Each kind of material and each thickness cuts differently. You should take this in account in your design. You can see more under each specific material. Read more

Keep a distance from the edge and place your objects optimally
Remember that you need to position your objects on the sheet size you want to use and you cannot use the whole sheet as you need to keep a distance of at least 5mm from the edge.

Check the scale and size of your objects
Remember that your file needs to be in a 1:1 format when you upload on cotter. It is not possible to change the size afterwards. See here how to check the size of your objects before you order.

All your graphics should be in a vector format
Everything that needs cutting or etching will need to be converted into vector graphics. Your file cannot contain pictures or text that have not been converted into vectors.

Clean your file of unnecessary graphics and hidden objects
For best results, remove all the lines and graphics that cannot be cut or etched before uploading. That way you can be sure they don’t sneak in by mistake.

Remove all double lines
Remember to remove all lines that are lying on top of each other. E.g. if

Select different colours for different operations
Remember to select different colours for cutting and engraving.

Save your file in the correct format
You can upload the following files on cotter: pdf, ai, dxf and svg. Please be aware you have to save in a 1:1 scale.

Double check
Before you order, be sure to double check all your options. That all thicknesses and materials are as they should be, that film has been selected on the top and bottom where it is needed and that the invoice and delivery addresses are correct.
