Useful to know
Suitable for indoor signage, model making, invitations, prototypes etc.
The material has a rough, untreated appearance. The surface may vary slightly from sheet to sheet and between the different thicknesses, as the material is made from recycled paper.
Vector and raster engraving
Both vector and raster engraving are possible. The material gains a darker colour in the engraved areas. The thicker the engraving, the darker the colour.
Avoiding burn marks
Please be aware that the adhesive from the film may cause the fibres to lift when peeling it off because of the rough surface.
Laser cutting
Top – A slight darkening of the material will appear along the score line. At the time of your order, you can choose to add a protective film to avoid the worst burn marks. Please be aware that the adhesive from the film may cause the fibres to lift when peeling it off because of the rough surface.
Edges– The edges look brownish and can rub off. This can be minimised by wiping with a dry cloth. The thicker the material, the more soot that will accumulate around the edges.
Bottom – There will be a certain amount of smoke and marking along the score line, depending on the surface on which the material is cut. If the bottom is visible on the final product, it is most often wiped away with a dry cloth. Alternatively, at the time of your order you can choose to add a protective film to avoid the worst burn marks. However, please be aware that the adhesive from the film may cause the fibres to lift when peeling it off because of the rough surface.
You can also choose to add a double-sided adhesive tape, enabling you to put your design up on a wall without the use of any nails and screws.
Finishing treatments
It is possible to decorate grey cardboard with magic markers, pens and suchlike. However, the rough surface absorbs very wet pens into the material, and may cause it to spread slightly at the edges. It is a good idea to conduct a test before you initiate a major project.
